The Register entry for George & Sarah's marriage gives no addresses or names of parents, and the names of the witnesses shed no further light. There is no sign of any George Nettleship born in Nottingham around 1760, so it must be assumed that George moved into Nottingham as a young man. It seems most likely that he is the eldest son of GEORGE NETTLESHIP & EDITHA, who raised their family in East Markham, a village situated about half way between Retford and Worksop

It is possible that the 1804 marriage was not GEORGE's first, and that there is an earlier family to be traced, but there is no evidence to suggest this.
GEORGE died and was buried Sneinton 1832, and age given then suggests that he was born about 1760.
Sarah is shown in the 1841 Census at Manvers St Sneinton, along with children George, Mary, Sarah, Ann and James, although George was by this time married and with children of his own.
