JOSEPH was the second son of GEORGE NETTLESHIP & SARAH MORLEY
No trace of Joseph has been found in the 1841 Census, but Ann Nettleship is shown at Elson Street Sneinton with children George, Joseph and Thomas.
There is some confusion over the name of Joseph's wife. Joseph (occupation illegible) is shown in the 1851 Census at Clement Place Sneinton with wife Jane (from Chilwell) and children George (labourer), Thomas (labourer) and Ann. The ages of George and Thomas indicate that this is the same family. Presumably the Jane was an error made by the enumerator.
By 1861 the family had moved to Beverley Street, in 1871 Joseph & Ann were living with their son George at 9 William Square, and finally in 1881 they were on their own at 3 Camber Yard (Cambridge Street?).
Ann (Wright) died 17.8.1881 at Cambridge St, St Annes, and she and Joseph are buried in Nottm General Cemetery, Grave 9672, along with Ann Read, wife of Thomas Edward Read of Windsor St, and George Nettleship (75), a Lacemaker of Plumtree St, and presumably brother to Joseph.
George is shown at 9 William Square in 1871, as head of the family with his wife and daughter, both Alice, and his parents living with him.
